There’s Strength in Community!

Being a Montessori guide, responsible for the wellbeing, learning, and development of an entire classroom of children, under normal conditions, is an immense task.

This school year, as classes resume, the work of the guide is significantly more challenging. Figuring out how to keep students (and yourself) safe and healthy, emotionally secure, socially connected, and meaningfully engaged in a radically altered learning environment – I mean, really! Who signed up for this?

If you are feeling overwhelmed and confused, you are not alone!

Everyone is in the same boat. Fortunately, there are Montessori educators out there who have begun to figure out the steps of this new pedagogical dance. They have found ways to re-create the prepared environment for different age groups – on-campus and online.

Begin the new year with meaningful coaching and support as a member of a Montessori Teachers Coaching Cohort

Coaching cohorts will be small groups of early childhood, elementary, or secondary Montessori teachers who meet after school weekly to share practical ideas and solve pressing problems, such as creating the most effective program under different circumstances, supporting students' emotional wellbeing, gathering the best resources, organizing the day, and working with parents.

By joining a coaching cohort you will:

  • Receive coaching relevant to your current situation and needs

  • Collaborate with other guides at your level

  • Adapt Montessori pedagogical principles to the “pandemic” environment

  • Explore the various alternative learning platforms

  • Learn how to best support your students’ emotional well-being

  • Develop strategies to encourage age-appropriate social interaction whether physically distancing onsite or learning remotely

  • Utilize observation to assess and respond to student needs

Coaching cohorts will be led by a recognized and respected Montessori mentor teacher or teacher educator.

Ideally, you will join and continue with the same cohort of teachers and coach for the entire school year and beyond if you find it useful. However, your participation is based on month-to-month enrollment. You can pause at any time. When you register you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that will help us understand your interest and needs and be able to place you in the right cohort. The 14 day trial gives us time to place you into a cohort that links you with your preferred day, time, consultant, and with schools similar in size and program scope. This will depend on program enrollment and thus first preferences cannot be guaranteed.
